    Collection: Hemp Protein Powder

Hemp Protein powder is now one of the most popular vegan varieties, made by grinding the nutritious pressed hemp seeds into a fine powder full of protein. It has a nice earthy, nutty taste and is most commonly added to smoothies to help boost protein intake in a healthy manner. Unlike other proteins, hemp protein comes with additional vitamins, minerals, fibre and healthy fats, making it more like a high protein meal.

Hemp protein is regarded as a complete protein, containing all nine essential amino acids that we require from food in an easy to digest form. It is a great option for not only vegans and vegetarians, but anyone looking to get a healthy boost of plant based protein in their diet.

    Optimal Absorption

A typical 30g scoop of hemp protein powder will contain around 15g of protein. Compared to other protein powders this is relatively low because hemp protein is generally not refined and processed as much. Due to the lower processing, hemp protein tends contain more healthy fiber and small amounts of fat, giving it more of a whole food breakdown. Unlike typical plant based proteins which are notoriously harder to digest than animal proteins, research shows that 91-98% of the protein in hemp is digestible.1,2

This means your body can use almost all of the amino acids in hemp protein powder. So while the percentage of hemp protein in each scoop is lower than other plant proteins, the absorption is far better. Heat can impact the quality of hemp protein, which is why you'll find all of ours are made from cold pressed hemp seeds.

    Great Source of Fiber

We all know getting optimal amounts of fiber in our diets is extremely important. Linked to so many health benefits including a healthier gut, improved blood sugar and weight management.3,4

A typical western diet does not meet optimal fiber requirements, which is where a great hemp protein can help. A typical 30g serving of hemp protein will contain about 8g of fiber.

    Healthy Fats

As hemp protein is made by cold pressing and milling hemp seeds which are high in healthy fats, there remains some fat in the hemp protein. A typical 30g serving has about 3g of unsaturated fat, excellent for heart health with an idea ratio 3:1 of omega 6 to omega 3. 5,6,7

As hemp protein is less refined than other protein isolates, it generally contains more fat.

    Rich in Minerals and Antioxidants

Unlike other forms of protein powder, the unrefined nature of hemp seed protein makes it much higher in minerals and antioxidants. High in minerals such as magnesium, iron, phosphorus, calcium, zinc and copper, a typical serving of hemp seed protein contains a large percentage of your daily requirements. 8
